The hat features hand painted elements on all the panels, which were made using acrylic paint and a brush ( the paint does not come out after washes ).
Initially the hat had a green camouflage pattern and a layer of white paint was added to mute it and give it a grunge appearance. The hand painted graphics on the panels reflect the human life cycle from birth to death.
